12/06/2022 20:53

Hanoi - the city with long-standing values of culture and history of Vietnam has entered into poetry and verses with many beautiful melodies and good poetic ideas. Usually, the image of 36 streets is like a typical signal so that every time people mention it, we immediately know that it is Hanoi.

For a long time, Hanoi and the whole country - VietNam fought with the Covid epidemic, so the alleys also became quieter and more sparse. However, now, Hanoi has returned and is alive with the busy atmosphere of work, business and entertainment activities.

Have we ever wondered why there are 36 streets, why each street is called “Hang”.

According to legend, the history of Hanoi's old street started from the Ly - Tran dynasties. This place is the center of business activities, handicrafts, the busiest trading place in the early 11th century. Each street has its own distinctive character. This culture has gradually penetrated into the daily lives of the people in the old town and is well known by the inhabitants of the villages around the Northern areas. Thanks to that, the name "Hang" - a very familiar name with traditional culture was born.

The old merchants believed that 36 was a beautiful number, bringing a lot of fortune and luck. According to records in 174, King Le Hien Tong divided Thang Long citadel into 36 areas, called 36 streets, belonging to 2 districts of Vinh Xuong and Quang Duc. Therefore, the "36 streets" of Hanoi have been kept from years to years, still retaining the inherent characteristics that the ancients worked so hard to build.

The more we explore Hanoi's Old Quarter, the more we will understand the history and people of the ancient times. Here, the ancient architecture is still preserved, the human culture still has a very unique feature.
